Jonathan Ansell (G4 Frontman) and Jai McDowall (Britains Got Talent - Winner) have joined forces to create a dramatic and spine-tingling concert - Ansell’s Les Musicals. This ultimate celebration of musical theatre is coming to the Victoria Theatre Halifax on Tuesday 14 June at 7:30pm.
After sell-out shows in 2018 & 2019, Ansell's Les Musicals returns in 2022 due to phenomenal demand adding the Victoria Theatre Halifax to the tour. This vocally dynamic evening showcases even more smash-hit songs from the greatest musicals of all time, brought to you by two of the world's finest voices.
Come and immerse yourself into the world of Musical Theatre with classics from Les Misérables, The Phantom of The Opera, Wicked, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Greatest Showman, Miss Saigon, Chess, We Will Rock You and many more.
Ansell's Les Musicals is the brainchild of the production’s High Tenor, Jonathan Ansell. He has always loved musical theatre and felt that other concert tour productions were not fully hitting the mark. He wanted to modernise the genre and bring a highly energised, dramatic and high-quality evening of music that leaves the packed houses on their feet screaming for more night after night. What’s wonderful is that it’s evidently clear that his desires have come true!

“Touring is what this industry is all about. Standing on a stage and performing music that you love is the best buzz ever! What is so wonderful about this show is the rapport both on and off stage with Jai. He is a hoot, and I cannot wait to have more fun with him on the road very soon.”
Jai said:
“This show is such fun. The songs are all amazing, the audiences always blow me away and the tour bus banter is horrendous, well especially from Jonathan! It’s great to perform in a new town or city night after night for two whole months. Bring it on...”
Meet and greet tickets also available!
What’s new about Ansell’s Les Musicals 2022?
We have loads of new exciting songs and banter which is leaving rapturous ovations night after night. The Les Miserable finale is a huge favourite for all, where we showcase a selection of our favourite smash hits from this remarkable production. We also love the chance to share songs from Phantom Of The Opera, Hamilton, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Greatest Showman, Miss Saigon, Chess, We Will Rock You, Dear Evan Hansen, Rent, Chicago and many more…
What are your favourite musicals to watch?
Jai - My favourite musical is “Avenue Q"
Jonathan - I have to say it has to be Les Miserables - always moves me to tears, however many times I watch it.
Who should come and see your tour?
Jonathan: What is wonderful about this tour is to see such a varied audience. The most touching for me is to see multigenerational family groups who have come to enjoy a lovely night out together. We all need to get back to this escapism once again and it’s heart-warming to see the joy it’s clearly bringing people.
Jai: Everyone, we see a mix of older theatre fans but also a lot of younger ones too.
Why should people buy a ticket for Ansell’s Les Musicals?
Jonathan: Because you’ve been stuck inside far too long, come out and have a fun night of songs and laughter with us.
What challenges have live theatre faced since COVID?
Jonathan: The pandemic has been truly tragic for the entertainment sector. The prolonged and repeated Government restrictions shut venues and sadly caused many to have to close indefinitely. Performers have been forced to leave the profession in pursuit of a stable job to support families, but thankfully through the mutual resilience and support of friends, family & colleagues, we strive to reach the sectors flourishing highs and build the industry back to its former glory as soon as we possibly can. This will only however be possible with audience support though attendance to shows that hit the road over the coming months.
Why you are excited to get back on the stage with this thrilling show?
Jonathan: I love standing alongside Jai as he is a blast to work with. His voice is also rather special to collaborate with. There is something special about a Scottish tone that certainly excites me to listen to it!
Jai: Having completed the 1st half of the tour already, I can’t wait to get back out to see everyone in the
audience and share the stage with Jonathan, it’s a fun show to be part of.
