The Victoria Theatre will reopen its doors to theatregoers for the first time in over a year, on Friday 28 May 2021.
We're reopening as a COVID secure venue, following the safety & hygiene measures for businesses set out by the government in its performing arts guidance & in consultation with Calderdale Council.
Please be aware of the current government COVID restrictions and abide by local and national rules.
To socially distance in the venue we have greatly reduced capacity in the auditorium. This means that shows could sell out much more quickly so don’t delay in purchasing your tickets. If the season is delayed, an automatic refund will be given for any performance that can’t go ahead.
Your safety is of paramount importance to us. To keep audiences safe and comfortable, we are:
- Limiting contact wherever possible
- Installing hand sanitiser points around the building
- Reducing capacity and installing signage to help you to keep a safe distance from people outside of your household or support bubble
- Carrying out enhanced cleaning in between performances
- Ensuring that all staff in the venue are also wearing face coverings and / or visors
Purchasing Your Tickets
Tickets are only available in fixed groups of 2 or 4 tickets per group that can be seated together.
Each group must only consist of one household or support bubble.
Each group is distanced by 2m from the other groups.
We will not be issuing hard copy tickets for events during the socially distanced programme. Instead all tickets will be electronic. Please either print your tickets at home or show them on your mobile phone when you arrive at the venue.
The day before your scheduled event you will receive an email containing all the information you will need for a safe and enjoyable visit. Please keep an eye out for this email and don't forget to check your junk mail folder.
If you cannot attend the performance due to having to isolate, please contact us and we will guarantee you a refund up to 24 before the performance. To cancel your booking please either call 01422 351158 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org and we kindly ask for as much notice as possible to allow for tickets to be resold.
Your ticket will show your allocated arrival time and entry door. Please arrive on time, latecomers will not be admitted until the interval.
The box office will remain closed but there will be limited telephone support and you can also make enquiries by emailing the box office or on social media. All enquiries will be responded to within 24 hours.
We have seats set aside for Wheelchair Users and carers / companions. As usual these need to be booked by calling (01422 351148) or emailing (email@example.com) the box office with your details and a member of the box office team will call you back to book your tickets and pre-order your refreshments. We will also be in touch with you before the event to give you advice on how to safely gain access to the venue and use the facilities. If you have any other specific access requirements please call us and we would be happy to assist you.
Drinks and Refreshments
The bars in the venue will be closed; however, we are running a limited bar service and during your ticket purchasing process, you will have the opportunity to pre-order your pre-show and interval drinks and refreshments. We strongly advise you do this, as it will make it much easier for you and our staff when you arrive at the theatre. Your drinks and refreshments will be brought to you at your seat.
If you would like refreshments during the interval, please order these in advance either online or when you enter the building at the order kiosk. We are only currently accepting card payments.
Challenge 21 rules apply to all alcoholic beverages and we will be asking anyone who looks under 21 years of age to present identification when receiving alcoholic beverages, even when pre-booked online. Refusal of drinks and a refund will be provided if ID cannot be provided when challenged.
Members can only receive their 10% discount when they pre-order their refreshments online.
We are sorry but there will be no hot drinks available.
For Your Health and Safety When at the Victoria Theatre
Please do not attend the venue and contact us immediately if you:
- Believe you may be infected with COVID-19
- Have experienced symptoms in the last 14 days
- Have been in close proximity to anyone who has experienced symptoms in the last 14 days
- Have arrived in England in the last 14 days and are not covered by the exemption rules relating to self-isolation or
- Have been instructed to self-isolate
Please download the NHS Test and Trace app before you come to the theatre and use your phone to scan the QR code and log in when you are here.
Please allow more time to get to the theatre. Consider your travel options and use a car, motorcycle, bicycle or walk to the theatre where possible, in accordance with the current UK Government guidance.
Please bring limited belongings (remembering your face covering) - a cloakroom service will not be available. Can we please politely ask that the empty seats between groups are not used for coats and bags.
The theatre will be well ventilated and may be cooler than usual so we recommend that you bring warm clothing, such as a jumper or jacket in case you feel cold.
Upon arrival at the venue, please join the queue at your assigned entry door and please remember to stay at a safe distance from each other.
A one-way system will be in place, please follow the clearly marked one-way routes and social distance signs.
Hand sanitiser stations will be located at the entrance to and around the venue, we invite you to make use of these to keep your hands bacteria free.
Our staff will be on hand to assist and direct you. Please be patient with us, as getting people into the venue and to seats safely make take a little longer than usual.
You will be asked to wear a face covering when at the venue. The Victoria Theatre fully supports anyone who is unable to wear a face covering due to mental, physical or hidden disability. If you are exempt due to medical reasons, please contact us in advance by emailing the box office so that we make a note of this on your booking. Please bear in mind that you may be asked for proof of exemption.
New one-way queuing systems are in place for all toilets. Include details of where the toilets and accessible toilets are. Toilets are cleaned before the audience arrive, during the performance, and are deep cleaned after each performance.
To ensure minimal contact with theatre staff please adhere to all the usual rules within the auditorium, such as no photographs and please remain in your seats.
At the end of the performance please follow staff directions. You will be asked to exit via specific doors.
Please consider the safety of the theatre’s front of house team and either dispose of any rubbish in the bins provided or take it home with you.
