The Russian State Ballet and Opera House
Swan Lake – a timeless ballet with exquisite dancing
Music by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky
Featuring live Orchestra with over 30 musicians
‘This was an absolute sumptuous ballet with the most gorgeous sets and costumes I have seen in years.’ The Central Fife Times.
After sell-out performances last year, the Russian State Ballet and Opera House is back for its annual UK tour with spellbinding, lavish, full-production touring ballet.
One hundred and thirty-five years ago audiences heard Swan Lake by the great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky for the very first time. From that moment on, the world of ballet would never be the same.
Swan Lake is a tale of two young women, Odette and Odile, who resemble each other so strikingly that one can easily be mistaken for the other.
It is the compelling legend of a tragic romance in which a princess, Odette, is turned into a swan by an evil curse. Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans while out hunting. When one of the swans turns into a beautiful young woman he is instantly captivated – will his love prove strong enough to break the evil spell that she is under?
From the opulent splendour of the palace ballroom to the moonlit lake where majestic swans glide in perfect formation, this compelling tale of tragic romance has it all.
Swan Lake captures, like no other ballet, the full range of human emotions – from hope to despair, from terror to tenderness, from melancholy to ecstasy.
A wonderful evening out, the memories of which you will cherish long after the final curtain falls.
Ticket holders are invited to join us in the auditorium from 6:45pm for a pre-show Swan Lake talk.
The Russian State Ballet and Opera House presents Swan Lake has been re-scheduled to Wednesday 19 October 2022 (from 22 October 2021 and 31 October 2020).
A letter from the promoter -
Dear Ballet Lovers
I hope you and your families are well and staying healthy!
It has been a very challenging time for us and although we learned to live with the fact that there were no performances last year, we sincerely hoped to perform for you this year.
For the last couple of months, we have been monitoring the situation and hoped the anticipated Freedom Day would also result in our Russian artists being able to perform in the UK this Autumn.
We have been in contact with various authorities and border agencies from different countries involved. Sadly, the travel & visas restriction are still in place, and no-one is willing to give us clear guidance and advise. We, therefore, sadly must announce the postponement of our 2021 tour into Autumn 2022.
I hope you understand our situation and hope to see you very soon once again!
We're pleased to confirm that your existing tickets will be valid at the rescheduled date and we hope you can join us. If you chose to collect your tickets from the Box Office at the time of booking, your tickets will still be available for collection up to the date of the rescheduled show.
If you are unable to attend, tickets must be returned to the Box Office by 22 October 2021 for a refund.
- If you have Victoria Theatre tickets bought from the Box Office and would like a refund - these will need to be returned to the Box Office for a refund (as this event has been postponed and to allow tickets to be resold).
- If you have Print at Home Tickets and would like a refund - If you have print at home tickets and would like a refund, please return the original print at home email which included the link to the ticket pdf (with the subject line - Your print at home tickets are ready - PLEASE PRINT) to the Box Office at email@example.com
- If you have purchased tickets though a ticket agent (eg Ticketmaster, SEE tickets etc) or any other channel and would like a refund - you will need to contact the agent directly to discuss your booking and their terms and conditions and refund policy will apply.
PLEASE NOTE: The £1.75 Theatre Support Fee that is automatically added to all tickets is non refundable. This fee is essential to supporting the theatre operations, particularly during these difficult times and it will be used to help provide necessary equipment for the safety of our audiences once we re-open for shows.
Victoria Theatre COVID Vaccination and Negative Test Policy
The Council and Theatre staff are excited to finally host full scale events after being closed for over 18 months. We know that many of our customers are eager to return to live entertainment and would like life to go back to ‘normal’. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic means that there is a need to continue to protect ourselves, our audiences, and our community, and make some difficult decisions that will help us to prevent the spread of COVID.
For a safe, considerate, and enjoyable experience for everyone the Council has decided to implement the following from the first full size, main house event on Thursday 26 August 21.
We are asking all ticket holders to provide ONE of the following:
Proof of double vaccination via the NHS App using the COVID Passport OR
Proof of a negative lateral flow test, logged within 24 hours of the event OR
Proof of a negative PCR test, logged within 24 hours of the event
You can provide these via the NHS App, which can be used to log all lateral flow and PCR test results. It also records vaccinations and can be used as proof of vaccination. You can also request a paper copy of your Covid Passport using the NHS App.
Please note: The NHS App is different from the NHS Test and Trace App.
We appreciate that not everyone is able to use apps and will therefore also accept the following as proof:
Text / email confirmations of negative test results logged with the NHS OR
A timestamped photograph of you with your negative lateral flow test OR
A COVID vaccination card showing double vaccination and matching photo identification
To further protect ourselves and each other, we are continuing with the programme of enhanced cleaning and continuing to encourage visitors and staff to wear masks while moving around the venue.
As we are all aware, theatres and live entertainment venues have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic, we were some of the last places to open and are likely to be the first places to close should the need arise for a return of restrictions.
We really want to make sure that we can remain open, to bring back the joy of live entertainment and shared experiences to all, so that we can all feel as ‘normal’ as possible under the circumstances.
We greatly appreciate your support, kindness, and cooperation during this time as we continue to protect ourselves and each other.
If you have any queries about your booking, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will respond to your enquiry as soon as possible. We are currently operating on reduced hours in the box office so recommend that you email instead of calling or attending the box office.
Please refer to our FAQs for more information.
The door times for all events are an hour before the show is due to start and we will be checking everyone as they come in. Please arrive as early as possible, as there may be queues.
* Ticket prices include a Theatre Support Fee when booking via our Box Office and online. No other charges are applied.
** Price dependent on section of theatre selected.
